    Our Christmas eve. dessert

I saw this neat idea on someone's blog and thot they were so cute I had to try them. They really were quite simple. First off you melt choc. in a bag and then snip off  a real little corner of the bag and make little question mark looking things, you want to make quite a few as that way you have several shapes to choose from and if some break.... oh yes these will be the handle of your teacup!!

Then you put cupcake papers upside down and squiggle choc. all over those-you'll want your choc to be cooled down some and not be so hot anymore, but still warm enought run

For the saucers you just pour a glob on wax paper  and smooth it out to however big you want your saucer to be

After your cup is harden you can carefully pull off the cupcake papers and take some of your melted choc, put a small glob on your saucer and set your cup on that, then you attach the handle the same way, some of my handles happened to attach on the saucers but they didn't seem to notice that isn't where they actually are!!

We then filled our with ice cream, you could put in anything you wanted except for maybe things like hot choc.(like one son suggested) and so onlaughing

And then you start eating......... and there are all kinds of ways to enjoy this sweet dessert...you can sip, lick, slurp, or just plain EAT!!!

May you all have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  • ON MY OWN!!

Today I am on my own!!!! That doesn't happen very often... or wait a minute I don't think it does anyhow!!!????? Anyhow after the last 2 days it was needful, if it happens very often or not!!!

Actually it started on Tues already, which was sewing day.... with so many ppl having moved out recently, our sewing days are not that big anymore which gets frustrating to the one in charge....what do you do for your sewing days??? always quilt or other projects too and what are some of those other projects???   So I was there most of the day even had my children all take naps there which I don't do very often as then it runs into a hassle of them still being asleep when it's time to go home...yada,yada, but for this once it did work out okay!!

Wed. was pear day I put up 14 qts of pear sauce which I think we will have to learn to like, it's sorta good, but still...... and also had 3 qts of juice that I canned, and started 2 dryers of pears which were done by that evening. Mom showed up unannounced to help out!!!! Which I didn't mind a bit, but the deal was then she was hoping I would come help her the next day with hers!!!!! Well mom, I really don't think you want me showing up with 6 children in the morn. So how about I put them down for naps and come down this afternoon and help you out????? So that is what I did--we ended up cutting up like 4-5 dishpans- she got 29 qts!!!

Then Thurs. (which was yest) was a totally different speed....much faster.....     I knew I was keeping a friends 3 younger ones while she goes for an app. and also my 2 extra plus Devon!!! Which made for 6 under 5 yrs old!!!

I got up and had the big dryer going again with pears before they showed up which was 8:30!  Our schoolchildren were out the door by then also.  I had turned the heating stove way down as it needed to be cleaned out REALLY bad, so then when it started getting chilly in the house it was a great reminder to start cleaning, by then it was 10:00--couple loads of laundry had been done, the house had been scattered all thru with toys and they all wanted to go out!!!! So the deal was.. you pick up all the toys and out you may go, then I quick cleaned the stove out while they were out as it can make an awful mess and can esp. do so if you forget that the filter is bad and start sweeping away on all this soot and don't turn around for awhile and then when you do turn around, the floor and everything is sooooooo black you can seriously go write your name on the living room carpet!!! No that didn't happen yest. but it has has already happened to me!!!!

I also cooked and deboned a 10 .lb bag of chicken for chicken chowder for supper.....and grilled a 10 .lb bag of chicken and then gave part of that to some friends for use whenever and the rest is for our lunch tomorrow!!!

Also quick made a birthday cake (from a mix) for one of the little girls I was keeping  and then her parents brought the ice cream for dessert after supper for a party, then what's a party without a gift so when everyone was down for naps, I  quick  sewed up a little apron with her name on it for her, don't you know it I forgot to take a picture of it!!! She was quite tickled with it!!!

So today  I had a therapy app at 9:00 and decided it would be nice to go at a leisurly pace all day, DH thot I could take as long as I wanted too and now it's noon already and i really haven't gotten too far, Jessica has been begging for books from the library, so I went there first and got stuck.

Now it's on to the thrift store!!

  • HOT LUNCH AT SCHOOL

It was my day to serve hot lunch at school yest. So after having seen the idea of smilesbymiles (sorry would link to it if I knew how) lunch serving day, I sorta copied for my day!!!

She had used Mcdonalds, which I tried to do also, but when I had stopped in to ask if I could buy some of the papers and cups... I had to talkto the cashiers manager managers, (yes you read right)

He kept shaking his head saying he's sure it would be okay but he'll just give me the # well I tried calling, left a message and no luck on Tues.

Paul went to town on Wed and so I tried calling again and still no answer. So he stopped in and sure enough, same answer!!

So he goes over to Carl's Jr. which gladly gave him way above what he was asking for!!!!!

The children seemed to be quite delighted!!!!

For dessert they got to choose between an ice cream cone or sundae with lots of different toppings!!!

After lunch and since it was wet and raing outside they played a lively game of musical chairs!!!

Even Grandma joined in the fun!!!

That afternoon Devon ended up staying at school --He thot he really had it made---

I had to run to town and  later on in the evening while looking thru my pictures on the camera, these were on there

I guess this one thot baking a cake would be fun and sister thot the no-bake cookies sounded easier, the only small problem was that

they do taste better if you wait to put in ALL the ingredients until the syrup is boiled and then add the oatmeal otherwise it might become slightly soggy

    and chewy!!!!!whatevah

         But they had fun!!!

This is what the youngest has been busy doing recently and did you know if you aim it just right and it hits the ceiling fan just right it will go much further??

  • Ramdom thoughts

Well the softball theraphy was shortlived, by this morning it was back to it's old self!!!sad   Guess it will have to be done oftener than once a week!!! ha

HOW can you get your whole page to be the same color????

Today the laundry had to be done, since I will be gone again Mon teaching at school and then on Tues will be sewing, I'm to have devotions any suggestions????  OR better yet any volunteers to take my placelaughing???? That is something that is so hard for me!!!!sad

Still need to study for the girls sunday school class tomorrow too!!!

  • Good evening one and all--

What a nice cozy evening to sit around, esp. since I was gone all day subbing at school and then had to rush rush after getting home to get out the door again---take the motorhome down to friends so that they could use it for  their family filled weekend which is by the way happening since the grandmothers 100th birthday was today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That to me is mind-bloggling thinking of living for 100 years- just think of the changes she has seen thru the years.

I have been having an awful time of it again with my back recently and this morn it was an easing in and out of seats to not jar it too much, by late afternoon I started thinking how different it feels and I know it comes from playing softball at school, however strange that may seem, but I do believe that doing that certain swing (batting, throwing the ball)actually makes it feel better,   I'm sure good theraphy for it would be to go to school once or twice a week and play ball!!!!laughing

Tonight we had a first for our family,

we've sung quite a bit here at home to our own 4 walls, but decided to get a little braver and actually ended up singing by this grandmother's place for her and her granddaughter (who I grew up with)and who is also recovering from a major surgery, Last sunday evening!!!!

So then tonight we went to sing at a local asissited living/nursing home, the children were not impressed that we had the audacity to do something like that!!! But when I think of the many times we groaned because we had to go visit yet another "old" person and now looking back and seeing how much they enriched our lives- this mother did not have much symphathy for them!!!sad

The evening went well and I really do believe we need to make this a habit, if nothing else but for the blessing we receive to visit these dear older people!!!

I need to run marinate some steaks yet this eveing for lunch tomorrow and it is high bedtime!!!!

  •    Getting back into the mode of teaching was quite easy!!! It's amazing how fast it all came back after I was there awhile!!!

Everyone did great in staying at it and all got done with their goals, even with having to leave for music class in the afternoon!!

Today while playing ball, (which by the way is prob. about my favorite sport)  I was on 3rd base and my little 1st grader was standing there with his glove being the all-important 3rd baseman and he was informing me, their team is winning and WE ARE losing  and that somehow the winning team is getting ice cream and finally he goes, whatever, I don't have time to talk now!! I need to get Kenny out--who is the 11th grader!!!!!!And this would be him!!!

Here is one of the whole school being very relaxed about it all!!!

  • Xanga keeps informing me if I start leaving posts I might get some footprints!!!! Like as if the only reason I would post is to see who reads it!! Just how vain do they really think I have become???

Alright I admit I do go see who has been on it from time to time and yes I know noone wants to read the last post over again and again!

I really should be headed to bed as this body needs to get up and start teaching school in the morn for about 7 days!!! I am really looking forward to it, it has been 11 years since I have been in the school room full time. My how time does move on!!!

Today I was going to finish up the mowing so I wouldn't have to do it some evening after school or on Sat. when I know there will be plenty of other things to do....like fix food for the carry-in, set the tables at church, since at the moment I am on the food com.  or   I find out this eve that believe it or not I am now the youth girls sunday school teacher and THAT is a subject for later!!! That is if I survive to write about it!!

Oh yes, back to the mowing....I was all the way over on the other side of the church house calmly mowing along when it dawned on me that something just doesn't feel right and here the back tire was completely flat!!! and OFF the rim!!! Well it was pretty well ruined anyhow, so drive it home I did!!!!much to my husbands dismay, but hey I was in no mood to carry the air tank all the way over there when it looked pretty well done in already, needless to say it needed a new tube, which we had to take out and put in the second time as when we tried to air it up the first time it didn't hold air and so obviously it had a hole poked thru while we were trying to put it in the first time, so out it came and the hole was patched and then put back in, which worked just fine after that!!!

So the mowing didn't get done and will just have to be done sometime later before Sunday morn. and now I am off to bed and xanga should be happy that I have finally updated!
